Annual membership

Individual members renew their membership once annually with $150 USD in dues, which supports the mission of providing the sustainability profession with community, tools, and training. As an inclusive, international community, we do our best to accommodate differences in career journeys and regional economies with membership discounts.


Not sure if you qualify for a low or middle income economy country discount? Find your country on the World Bank map. In addition to membership discounts, we often provide special discounts on selected courses and study materials.

  • How much is ISSP membership?

  • Are there any requirements to become an ISSP member? Does ISSP vet its members?

    ISSP provides community, training, and tools for individuals interested in sustainability. It is important to note that membership does not imply any professional certification, accreditation, or endorsement by ISSP of an individual's qualifications or expertise, and ISSP does not actively vet or monitor the actions of its members. 


    However, as a member-driven organization, ISSP relies on the integrity and professionalism of its members to create a safe, beneficial community for the sustainability profession. Members are expected to engage responsibly and ethically within the ISSP community, respecting the principles of sustainability and promoting constructive dialogue. (See rules of engagement.)


    ISSP does not assume responsibility for the advice or actions of its individual members. It is the responsibility of ISSP members to accurately represent their qualifications, affiliations, and professional expertise. The views expressed by individual members do not necessarily reflect the official stance of ISSP.


  • Do you offer any discounts for membership?

    ISSP offers memberships at discounted rates for students who are currently enrolled in a college or university, for emerging professionals and retirees, and for those who reside in low or middle Income economies as defined by the World Bank. See discounts here.

  • How do I renew my membership?

    You will receive an email notification when your membership is up for renewal, notifying you that a new invoice is available.


    Please follow the instructions and reach out to support if you need help. 

  • I purchased a membership, but have not yet received access to my member account. What do I do?

    Login to your member account, and enter the email you used to register. You'll be prompted to create a new login account and review/add your information.


    Once you've logged in, you'll be taken to Member Compass - our  portal for you to update your profile, see events that you are registered for, pay invoices, and more. Be sure to update your profile! 


    If you still need help, please submit a support ticket, and we'll reply within 3 business days.
