ABOUT THE EVENT


Join the Ceres team in a discussion that explores what it takes for companies and organizations to start their sustainability journey. The session will focus on priority starting points including the assessment of key sustainability issues and the measurement and management of scope 1 and scope 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. During the session, participants will also gain access to and the opportunity to provide feedback on a new tool Ceres is developing to help provide insights to early stage and resource-lean companies. 


Objectives


  • Engage in a discussion to uncover what companies need to do to prepare themselves to integrate sustainability practices into their organization. 
  • Ceres will present steps and recommendations to assess and identify sustainability issues that are most material, the importance of scope 1 and scope 2 GHG measurement and management, and why these areas are a useful place to start for companies. 
  • Explore a new tool in development from Ceres to help companies addresses these and other areas and provide feedback on potential areas for improvement 


Meet your PresenterS

Leonardo J. (L.J.) DeLuca is a Senior Manager on the Ceres Company Network Team. He engages with member and non-member companies on sustainable business strategies - making the business case for the integration of environmental, social and governance factors into decision-making, core business operations and supply chains. He also drives the advancement of work related to The Ceres Roadmap for Sustainability, a vision and practical framework for sustainable business leadership, used to help companies, mitigate risk, create long-term value, improve corporate performance and transform the economy.

Dan Saccardi joined Ceres in 2016 and is the Program Director of the Ceres Company Network. He guides the Company Network’s strategy for advancing sustainable business leadership—including taking action to stabilize the climate, protecting water and natural resources, and building a just and inclusive economy—with some of the most influential companies across all major sector of the US economy. Prior to Ceres, Dan spent nearly a decade in sustainability-focused management consulting with Broadscale Group, Cleantech Group, and GreenOrder developing sustainability strategies with companies in diverse industries.  

As a manager on the Ceres Company Network team, Katya Simkhovich works with members in the footwear & apparel, healthcare, and media sectors to ensure sustainability sits at the core of their business strategy and operations, as well as to enable them to be agents of systemic change. She also supports the advancement of work related to The Ceres Roadmap for Sustainability, a framework for sustainable business leadership intended to help companies (big and small) to mitigate risk, create long-term value, and improve corporate performance and transform the economy. Prior to joining Ceres in 2021, Katya spent five years working with companies across the food value chain to address farm animal welfare and sustainability issues in their supply chain.

ISSP credential holders will earn 0.5 CEUs for attending this webinar.
