Guide to the Member Directory

We are excited to soon launch the ISSP Member Directory — a database designed to help you grow your professional network within our global community of sustainability professionals.


Many members expressed a desire for better ways to connect with peers, find subject matter experts, and discover collaboration opportunities. This directory is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance member engagement and networking opportunities.


To take full advantage of the directory, please ensure your profile is updated in your member account. Members will be able to filter the directory by career stage, industry type, ISSP credentials, sustainability credentials, city, country, and state. This only works when you fill out your profile!



HOW to update your profile:

The directory will automatically include all current members and the following existing information (see list below) from your profile. Some of these categories were required during your member registration and will auto-populate from your account. Others are optional updates!


  • First and last name
  • Your profile image (option to upload a headshot)
  • Preferred pronouns
  • Your organization
  • Career stage
  • Professional level
  • Industry type
  • ISSP credentials
  • Sustainability credentials


Your profile will also show the categories below. These are not open for changes, because they are tied to your annual renewal date and dues. If you would like to make a change, please reach out to support.


  • Member type (individual, student, etc.)
  • Member since date (when you joined ISSP)

Your security and privacy is incredibly important to us. With this in mind, we implemented the policies below.

  • The directory will never reveal your address or email. 
  • Members can control what details are shown in their profile via their member account.
  • Only members can view the member directory.
  • The order of the directory is random (rather than alphabetical) to be more inclusive.
  • Only members can send you a message, and it will be through a secure contact form.
  • Members are limited to 5 messages a day to restrict spamming. 
  • If you want your profile hidden from the directory, please reach out and we will remove you.

FAQs

  • How do I find other members?

    When the directory is live, you will be able to find it on the main navigation bar under Community > Directory. The directory lets you search for other members based on keywords. 


    You can also filter the list by career stage, industry type, ISSP credentials, sustainability credentials, city, country, and state/province. Please note that the search results only include information that members have chosen to include in their personal profiles.

  • How can I contact a member through the directory?

    If you click on and view a member’s profile, you can click on the blue mail icon

    under their name. 


    You will be prompted to send them a message through a secure contact form. They will receive this form in their email inbox, and then, they have the option to reply to you via their email. Please note that you are limited to 5 messages a day to restrict spamming. 


    If they include their LinkedIn in their profile, then this will also be an option for connections.

  • How can I hide my profile from the directory?

    If you want your profile hidden from the directory, please reach out to support and we will remove you.


    You can also remove portions of your profile by editing it in your member account. 

  • I recently updated my profile in my member account, but the changes aren't showing up in the directory. Why?

    After editing your profile, make sure you hit the Save button in the top right. If the changes are still not updated, please reach out to support, and we will help you.

  • In my account, my Member Since year is not correct. Can you help?

    You must be a long-time member! We're so grateful for your support over the years. 


    This is an error with a handful of members due to a data issue in our last system, and we would love to update your Member Since year. Please reach out to support. 

  • When logging in, the system says my member account is not found. How do I fix this?

    Most likely, you signed up with a different email address. We are ready to help and can look this up on our end! 


    Please contact support, and we will help you login to your member account. Thank you for your patience.

  • I am searching in the directory, but can't find the person I'm seeking. Can you help?

    ISSP offers an online directory that has a robust filter feature. Be sure to use the filters, such as career stage, industry type, ISSP credentials, sustainability credentials, city, country, and state/province. 


    When using the keyword search, make sure to use thoughtful wording about searchable keywords. For example, if you search "research" your search results will include "researchers" and "researching" because the first part of the word matches. But, if the reverse is true and you search "researchers", your search results will not include "research" or "researching" because neither includes "researchers".

  • When I click on the directory, the website says: "Content locked. Restricted page."

    The directory is limited to members. Please note you must be logged into the website in order to access this webpage. You can login to your member account here.
